Portia has been asked to pack up her Grandfather’s belongings after he recently passed; she doesn’t know anything about him nor has she ever met him.

Crossing the line, flashback through her Grandfather’s life and all the revelations from his past.

Last term the group had asked if they could come up with the theme and idea for their show. Of course, I was thrilled they wanted to have more of a say in their work. We spent the term going through lots of ideas, discovering that the group knew exactly what they didn’t want but no idea about what they did want! Until they came across this idea of flashing back through someone’s past. Then, as a group, we were overwhelmed with ideas to the point we had both a novel and television series of a show!

We then cut the show down to what they felt was important and I set to work writing it up. Whilst writing this show we found out what we had created was also happening in real life and that has been really interesting to explore.

During this term we have worked hard on making sure their characters and motives are clear and working on making sure they all understand what is going on. As well as getting to know each other as we have new people to the group and some joined as late as half term.

It has been a really challenging play, it is a lot more serious than what they have done in the past few years and has a sense of maturity to it. I have really enjoyed working with the group and seeing them suggest things for their characters and fight for what they believe should happen to them.

I really hope they have enjoyed the challenge and that you enjoy watching their work come to life.
