Ernie’s Incredible Illucinations is a joyful, imaginative play about a boy whose mind refuses to stay in the ordinary world. While waiting to see the doctor, Ernie’s imagination runs wild, transforming everyday moments into heroic adventures and strange encounters. The play shifts between reality and fantasy, inviting us into the vivid worlds Ernie creates inside his head.
In rehearsals the group have worked hard on the foundations of acting. We’ve explored blocking and how actors use the stage to tell a clear story, learning how movement and positioning help guide the audience’s eye. The cast has also developed their character work, thinking about what each character wants and how that shapes their voice, energy and physicality.
A big challenge in this production has been multi-rolling, with actors playing several different characters across the piece. This means quick shifts in posture, status and movement, helping the ensemble create a whole world with a small group of performers.
As always, the most important part of the process has been working as an ensemble supporting each other, listening, responding and building the story together. The cast have approached the piece with imagination, commitment and a lot of humour, and we hope you enjoy stepping into Ernie’s extraordinary world with them.
